On the 9th June 2009, London B2B Net ‘The 14,000 Group’ held their last complementary networking event before the summer break. Over 50 businesses overcame the obstacle of the tube strike and managed to attend the themed event at the environmentally friendly conference centre, 15 Hatfields, Waterloo.

The event entitled ‘Increase Your Profit And Reduce Your Bills Being Green And Sustainable’ covered the opportunities available for businesses to access grants, funding and one to one advice from professional advisers and in some cases for free of charge.

The three speakers, John Newton from Carbon Trust, Helen Clarke-Bell from southlondo.biz and Ben Murray from Carbon Smart provided information on services that are accessible for SME’s to support business growth. The panel were then open to questions from the floor.

Helen Clarke-Bell of southlondon.biz presented the new Go Green Plus project which covers the boroughs of Lambeth, Kingston, Merton, Richmond, Sutton and Wandsworth. She explained that this project would demonstrate real environmental and financial savings for SMEs. Individual advisers at no cost to the businesses will offer, 12 hours of tailored support, an audit of the business and a subsequent action plan with continued feedback and monitoring.

Businesses from Wandsworth, Lambeth and Southwark attended the event which allowed attendees to meet new contacts and raise company profiles over drinks and canapés.

Giles Gibson of the Original Thinking Group said of the event:

“Good evening last night – well organised and good speakers. Many thanks”.

This event was the last in the series of themed events before the summer break. London B2B Net plans to return on September 17th 2009 for a joint event with Wandsworth Council and Business Link for London at Battersea Power Station.
